Fallow Deer

Here are a couple of fallow deer I bumped into earlier. It was raining, but that didn't seem to bother them and I was lucky that they were not bothered about my presence either!
None of the images have been cropped, but the light levels were low and I bumped the ISO up to 6400, hence a bit of noise!

  1. The first and last are truly wonderful. The eyes make the first one. What camera do you use? I would love ISO in that range but being an OLY man will have to wait for the next generation and then wait again till one comes second hand.

  2. Thanks Adrian.

I am using the Canon EOS 7d at present. I was also using the Canon 100-400 lens - hand holding.
This is why I had to bump up the ISO so high!

A tripod is more practical for this setup, but its a pain in the butt carrying it around.

  3. Isn't it just in the shop aluminium seems OK after three hours the extra investment for carbon starts to make sense.

  4. Not been out long Adrian. I wanted the 5d mk2, but that was out of my reach at another £400 on top of the 7d!

Yep, carbon tripod is the way to go if you spend a lot of time on foot, but again you are talking ££££££'s for a decent one!

  6. Thanks Bob. The 7d will go up to 12800 ISO, but I think that would have been pushing it a tad!
